At First Christian Church Yates Center, the Hanging of the Greens was held on Sunday, December 01. Elders and Deacons prepared for and conducted this special service and directed the decoration of the sanctuary and church in its Christmas finery. Every decoration has meaning, rooted in faith and a strong tradition of honoring the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
On the First Sunday in Advent, scripture readings were taken from Isaiah 2:1-5, Romans 13:11-14, Matthew 24:36-44 and we lit the Candle of Hope in the Advent Wreath, following the long Christian tradition. Each Sunday, a different group or family from the congregation will read and light the Advent wreath; this Sunday, representatives from the Crusaders in Christ Sunday School Class read and lit the Advent Candle.
We welcome you to celebrate Advent with us. Each Sunday, as we light the Advent Wreath in anticipation of the birth of Christ, special prayers and scripture readings will enrich our journey to Bethlehem. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 AM and worship follows in the sanctuary at 10:45 AM. Come join us!
