Hospitality is clearly a Christian value; it's scriptural and the LORD leads the way. It is one of the most cherished, because hospitality means not only do we welcome others, we ourselves are welcoming. Jesus welcomed everyone, regardless their status; he welcomed everyone because he in his earthly ministry was welcoming. Now, as he sits at the right hand of the Father, he welcomes us still, as we can turn to him for guidance and encouragement. This is one of the deep blessings of knowing Jesus: his enduring, loving, welcoming presence!
Check the Gallery here on the website for some photos of people enjoying themselves in an atmosphere of caring. This is what we're to be about, as our friend Norman reminded us of this scripture today:
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. - Hebrews 13:2 (ESV)
We're certain that there were angels among us today. Thank you! What blessings!
ADDENDUM: Dateline, September 28. DW/CWF leadership reports that a net of $716.71 was raised in free-will donations at this event. We thank everyone for coming, for enjoying the food and fellowship with us and for the kind donations; the group will use the money to support their work in the church and community. Past projects include the chairlift that is now available at street level down into Fellowship Hall and help with purchasing a much-needed new copier for the church. We look forward to the future and the continuing service of this faithful group.
