September was busy with our seminar on The Visionary Christ - and the fine meal Pastor Harold prepared for us as a last summer picnic. He makes a fine hamburger on that new grill! We enjoyed some time in fellowship and look forward to the next gathering too. Maybe we can get Pastor Harold to bring his Pannini grill to treat us with some Italian sandwiches next time! We enjoyed the strawberries and all the summer fare...but it was the time together and our learning from scripture that was the best part of the evening. Jesus was a visionary - and we can be visionaries too, focused on what's possible for us as individuals and as a church family. Again, stay tuned!
The Disciples Women/CWF group worked hard to prepare for the Annual Hwy 54 Rummage Sale and they did pretty well, clearing out closets and bringing in some cash reserves to support their work in church and community. Well done, ladies! This group knows how to work together AND have fun! More is in the planning for coming months from this group, and we know the autumn will bring perhaps a chili or bean feed!
Check out the notice at the Events page regarding the BLESSING OF THE PETS at FCCYC. This is a special event we've done before (at other churches), and we have long wanted to bring it to Yates Center! It's a blessing of the pets and their families, and it's lots of fun too; we had a small turnout, but how sweet it was to see children and their family pets being blessed. St. Francis was a loving man who blessed the world around him with grace and peace. Here is a reminder of his work as we move forward in service, hope, and love:
