THIRD SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST WORSHIP at First CHristian Church...
Worship services at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Yates Center have followed a traditional format, and in special seasons of the church year, we have reflected on and celebrated accordingly. As the congregation ceased weekly Sunday worship in the beautiful building at 201 South Main following the worship on April 30, our spiritual endeavors have continued as core decisions are reached and enacted. We will post our monthly bulletins, going forward, and the bulletin for August 20 is below.
As we always do, we will gratefully partake of the LORD's Table at our August worship service and board meeting. Traditional hymns, scripture readings, and prayer will encourage our continual awareness of God's steadfast love and our grateful response. As children of God, we will each and together continue to celebrate the constant love and care of our heavenly father and the miracle of faith and love that is Jesus Christ, who - from the moment of his birth - made an immeasurable impact on the world. His proclamation, "I am the light of the world," (John 8:12 and 9:5) is a point of guidance for all who seek to follow him and learn from his teachings.
It is yet the season of Pentecost, and we continue to celebrate the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It's September now, and as autumn nears, we pray for all who are enjoying the sometimes-cooler weather. We remember those who have been suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma - and those who may be facing some challenges from Hurricane Jose. Let us remember to check on family and friends who are affected and stand ready to assist when needed. Our prayers are always needed, and there are many reputable charities ready to help using our donations. Included, of course, is the American Red Cross and through church-sponsored groups such as the Week of Compassion Offering from the Disciples of Christ. Check for such groups near you and do what you can. If you cannot help nationally, look for a way to share kindness and help with someone near. GOD BLESS YOU!
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way, and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
As September is the month when Disciples of Christ focuses on Reconciliation amongst all people, let us continue with the following scripture focus as well. All are our brothers and sisters, no matter their station in life; their place or circumstance of birth; their race. May God bring us together and bless us all!
"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!"
- Psalm 133:1
The short bulletin from the service in September is posted below. May it inspire and bless you.
